



Began arranging and performing dance during secondary school, including alumni gala performances, to gain learning and practical experience.
In the 1970s studied Chinese dance at the Singapore National Theatre and ballet at the Singapore Ballet Academy; also studied Indian dance.
Founding member of the National Theatre Chinese Dance Troupe; performed extensively in the troupe’s annual “Oriental Dance Ensemble” shows (1980–1998) and toured overseas many times.
Mid‑1980s to 2005: Dance Specialist Officer at Singapore’s Ministry of Education, overseeing dance in primary and secondary schools and planning the Singapore Youth Festival dance programmes.
1993: Further studies in dance research at Laban, London (UK). In 1995, on Dr. Cai Shupeng’s recommendation, traveled to Canada to study dance notation and observe dance education.
1988–2005: Repeatedly invited to choreograph large‑scale segments for the Singapore National Day Parade and the Singapore Youth Festival opening ceremonies.
Served as curriculum planning advisor for dance at NAFA and LASALLE College of the Arts, and as an external dance examiner for both institutions.
Member of the National Arts Council’s dance advisory panels.
2000–2010: Artistic Advisor to the Singapore Chinese Dance Arts Association; Artistic Director for the association’s 2010 full‑length dance drama “Legend of the White Snake”.
Currently Artistic Advisor to the Singapore Chinese Dance Company; scriptwriter for the stage dance productions “Xi Zi Qing” and “Cun Cao Ling Xi”.
